Sunil Lakhiani, Ph.D., P.E., is a human factors and product safety expert with over 20 years of experience spanning consumer and industrial products. He is currently a human factors safety lead at Amazon Lab126 where he works on evaluating product safety through evidence-based methodologies and user-centered design principles. Prior to joining Amazon, he worked at a global consulting firm where he specialized in both proactive and reactive safety initiatives, developing innovative methods for human reliability assessment in user-product interactions. His expertise includes product risk assessments, safety investigations, compliance evaluation, test method development, and advanced data analytics utilizing CPSC NEISS databases and global recall data. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a dissertation focused on employee safety perception as it relates to their near-miss reporting behavior.
